They've garnered widespread acclaim, earning multiple platinum record sales and numerous awards throughout their career.
Their journey began with the independent release of "First Girl to Leave Town" in 2005, which swiftly climbed to number 11 on the Irish Singles Chart. Following their signing to Universal Music Ireland, hits like "Trouble" and "Fantasy" cemented their place in the top ten. Their debut album, "A Public Display of Affection," dropped in October 2006, achieving platinum status in Ireland.
In 2008, The Blizzards released their second album, "Domino Effect," which peaked at number two on the Irish Albums Chart. Singles like "Trust Me, I'm A Doctor" and "Postcards" showcased their evolving sound and maturity. Their energetic performances at festivals like Oxegen and Indiependence, as well as supporting acts like Oasis and AC/DC, solidified their reputation as a dynamic live band.
After a hiatus starting in 2009, The Blizzards returned in 2016 with the singles "Drop Down The Anchor" and "Perfect on Paper." Their comeback culminated in the release of their third album, "The Last Great Algorithm," in 2019. In 2022, they marked their triumphant return with their fourth album, "Sometimes We See More In The Dark," which topped the Irish Independent album charts.
Throughout their career, The Blizzards have defied easy categorization, blending elements of ska-pop and post-punk revival into their own unique sound. Lead singer Niall Breslin challenges the notion of indie, asserting that their music transcends genre boundaries to embrace a more inclusive pop sensibility. With each release, they continue to captivate audiences with their infectious energy and unwavering passion for their craft.
