Somebody's Child

Somebody's Child Biography

Somebody's Child has come a long way in just over a year as an act. What was originally supposed to be a project for the young Dubliner to write for other artists, has now developed into a fully-fledged ambition, taking leaps at a time. With his honest songwriting, it would never seem as if anyone else was supposed to have sang his stadium sized songs. From  supporting the likes of Kodaline, Primal Scream and Kaiser Chiefs in their upcoming 3 arena gig in February, playing the biggest festivals such as Electric Picnic and IndiePendence, to having over 16 million listener impacts on radio and write ups from notable publications, the prolific songwriter sees a bright future for himself. ...

One, however, that is grounded in his passion for crafting reverberating songs.

Once hidden to the public, Somebody's Child identity is now revealed in retaliation to the focus of the media on what was initially an idea meant to draw more attention to the music. Somebody's Child willingness to talk about personal problems with mental health was part of this decision too, in order to reduce any sort of barrier between him and the listener.

Steaming ahead, Love That Sound is Somebody's Child 5th single release and once again turns in a different musical direction. Clearly playing with his assets and finding his feet, Love That Sound is a mature step in Somebody's Child career as he tries to make an even bigger mark. With vintage hip-hop feel, mixed with soul in parts and his indie pop roots with an electrifying chorus, this release is sure to do just that.

Speaking of the track Somebody's Child says:

"It was written 5 or 6 months ago with one of my band members. I have some incredible talent around me and I try to make use of that as much as possible. Love That Sound to me instills feelings of upliftment. Sometimes all we need is to just feel better about ourselves and that was a recurring thought when writing the lyrics. The melody certainly gave way to the lyrics on this one. The music felt like it needed to be about showing love to oneself and one another.

From a musical standpoint, not being confined to one genre is important to me, so I tried to take as much influence as possible from genres I’m not entirely used to or familiar with. Doing so,

I found myself writing through the eyes of people all over the world from all different sorts of backgrounds, but also from personal experiences."

With over half a million streams online, and a band that have huge chemistry and now the experience, the next year is sure to be huge, and Somebody's Child is doing everything he can to prove himself a massive contenders as a breakout artist of 2020. February 1st will mark the bands and  first headline gig since April 2019 not to mention their biggest. With lots of new material in store it's setting up to be a big one.
